Consultancy and Design

Radime offers full-service turnkey solutions to the design and implementation of the hardware systems for digital signage solutions.

We work closely with the client and the advertising agency to ascertain the most appropriate quantities, types, sizes and locations of screens to maximise return-on-investment and revenue.

We analyse the footfall and traffic pattern statistics for the venue and we consider how our proposed solutions will affect sight-lines and how the venue will change through the seasons and under different ambient lighting conditions.

We consider the requirements of the client to provide way-finding and venue information for customers and ensure that screens are located in practical and useful positions.

We consider the security of screens and associated hardware to ensure that they are out of reach to customers and visitors.

We consider the servicing and maintenance requirements of the screens to ensure that our service engineers have safe access and can utilise on-site access equipment where possible.

Finally, we review our recommendations in the light of our responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994.

Installation and Commissioning

Drawing upon many years of experience in the design and implementation of complex bespoke audio-visual systems in a wide variety of venues (including auditoria, football stadia, conference centres, malls, theatres, cruise ships), Radime is ideally placed to supply, install and commission the hardware for your digital signage system.

We have many years experience in working on both new-build and refurbishment construction sites. Our engineers are able to communicate effectively at all levels and work effectively with the main contractor to deliver efficient and problem free installations. Through extensive use of CAD drawings, written specifications, method statements and project management software, we are able to advise our requirements and manage our relationships with the design team and other trades. We pro-actively seek to ensure that our drawings are co-ordinated with structural, M&E services and signage packages to ensure that potential problems are identified at an early stage of the project and dealt with effectively.

Our highly skilled and experienced installation teams are fully versed in site health and safety issues and undergo regular training and certification in health and safety issues. Our installers will proactively liaise with other trades on site to ensure that our works integrate effectively and are programmed to ensure efficient on-site working.

Designated operations staff will visit the site with the commissioning engineers to see for themselves how the site is laid out and to ensure that when they are liaising with our service engineers, they can do so with personal knowledge of the venue.

Scheduling and Management of Content Delivery

Radime provides the essential expert link between the owner/operator of a digital signage system and the advertising agency staff tasked with placing third-party content on the screens.

Radime provides rule-based and fuzzy-logic software tools to allow the agency to schedule content from their own offices. The scheduling tools integrate with our management and delivery database to provide an integrated and seamless system. Content can be scheduled on a complex basis to suit the requirements of the customer and the available time slots, whilst maintaining the correct balance of advertising to venue branding, way-finding and ancillary content.

Furthermore, Radime offers a technical resource for the agency to advise the customer of the format and type of media files the system will effectively play-out to the screens.

If there is any doubt about the technical suitability of the content received from the customer, we will send it to a test player to ensure that it plays smoothly, fills the screen properly and does not cause the player pc to become unstable.

Ancillary Content

Radime can provide live feeds from content providers such as Reuters to facilitate the display of topical news, sports, weather and timetable information on the screens. The content is formatted in real time to reflect the venue's branding and can be scheduled to play at specific times or be underware (played when space in the schedule is available).

Guaranteed Content Delivery and Integrity

Radime's systems are designed to guarantee the playback of content in accordance with the schedules. We provide media servers in secure data-centre locations in Reading, London and Leeds which are constantly synchronising with each other and with our operations centre in Reading. Radime takes careful steps to ensure that each media file has a unique name and that content revisions are managed effectively. Files are transferred over the Internet using virtual private network technology to ensure that they can not be tampered with. The client and customer can rest assured that the content will play out in full as intended.

Remote Monitoring of Hardware Systems

Radime continues to develop hardware and software systems to monitor the performance and integrity of the play-out PCs and screens. We constantly interrogate our systems seeking to ensure that they are responding and that the replies we receive are as expected. In many cases, we can correct software faults remotely and even restart machines through software tools or remote-controlled power switches. We specify display devices that will constantly report their status and we monitor and track system up-times to ensure that we can offer effective planned maintenance solutions.

Audit Trails for Reporting Content Playback

Our client-server management database system has full reporting functionality to gather data to demonstrate the reliability and integrity of our systems. The player PC's send positive reports that the scheduled content played-out as expected. We make these reports available to the agency to allow them to develop pricing models to guarantee that clients only pay for content that did actually play.

We are currently developing real-time reporting systems which will allow the customers themselves to monitor the playback of their content and which will therefore facilitate real-time correlation between point-of-presence advertising and increased sales.

Remote and Physical Servicing of Hardware Systems

Radime offers tailored packages to service and maintain the hardware and software systems we offer. Radime employs full-time service engineers to allow us to respond quickly and efficiently to address problems which can not be dealt with remotely. We also offer scheduled out-of-hours planned maintenance to replace lamps and dust filters, etc and to clean the screens if required. All our engineers are trained and certificated to operate appropriate access equipment to ensure that our site visits cause minimum impact to other site operations. Radime maintains a stock of spare display devices and players and, in the event that equipment needs to be swapped out, we can do so with a minimum of fuss and downtime.
